Frequently asked Questions

Are you State Registered Physiotherapists?

Yes, all of us are Chartered physiotherapists with at least 5 years of postgraduate experience.

What sort of things will you do?

This largely depends on the problem. For example: If a stiff or painful joint is the problem, treatment will normally focus on mobilizing the joint by specific pressure techniques and increasing the flexibility of surrounding muscles and ligaments. You will then be shown exercises to maintain and increase this movement.

What shall I bring to my appointment?

Your physiotherapist will need to see the affected area and surrounding joints. Therefore, if it is a knee problem, shorts would be appropriate. Please also bring a current medication list, and reading glasses if you need them.

How many treatments will it take?

Again this depends on the problem, but as a general rule the longer the problem has been there, the longer it will take to correct. So get it looked at sooner rather than later!

Do I have to have a referral from my GP?

You only need a referral from your GP if you are going to claim through your insurance and your policy states that you need a referral. Otherwise it is not necessary

Does my doctor need to know about my treatment?

This is entirely your decision. In some cases it may be advantageous for your GP to be aware of the problem, but we will advise you and always ask your permission in such circumstances.

Am I covered on my medical insurance?

We have contracts and provider numbers with all major insurance companies. Please bring details of your medical insurance with you to the first appointment. There is a list of these in the ‘Prices’ page

We are all members of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapists.
